This unique swing bridge crosses the Manitowoc River near the Burger Boat Company in Manitowoc.
Built 1910, the bridge features a single riveted through truss swing span, set onto stone and concrete substructures.
Eastern Wisconsin has many movable spans, due to the industrial nature of the area. However, it is believed that this span has not moved in many years.
While bridge records indicate the bridge was built in 1910, there is a possibility this span is older. Oftentimes, railroads would reuse older spans on branch lines.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair to good condition.
The bridge is extremely hard to photograph. However, it is an extremely unique structure. Because of this, the author has ranked it as being regionally significant. The structure still displays a high level of historic integrity.
